The site for the original farmhouse had been well chosen by the farmer: Elevated above prime agricultural land with views of the mountains and protected from severe weather by the hills to the south. The existing dwelling was modest but solidly built and well situated, so it was remodelled to maximise its ‘best bits’ and to provide a contemporary family farmhouse.
New rooms are arranged around a courtyard which now sits at the heart of the house providing shelter and a sense of enclosure. The kitchen divides the two living spaces and looks out across the farm. A large covered outdoor living space links the house with the pool and landscape.
